Workshop Outline

Our next Controlling the Front Workshop will be on Friday, November 12, 2010.

This three-day workshop deals with the basic fundamentals of organizing and managing the front office of an automotive shop.

Part One

Part One goes over the basic fundamentals of organizing and managing any type operation, but is specifically designed for automotive shops. It covers:

  • The Concepts of Management and Leadership and how it applies to your shop
  • How to get your people to do things your way
  • Recognizing and handling those who can't seem to do it your way
  • How to handle customers and employees effectively
  • How to get more done in a day
  • How to get more production with less comebacks
  • The keys to setting the shop up so you don't have to be there

This workshop clearly defines the roles and responsibilities of both the owner and the Service Writer, resulting in both being on the same page and in agreement on how and what needs to be done. We hear from many owners after their Service Writer has done the workshop that he finally understands what the owner has been trying to do and why.

Part Two

Part Two deals with the basic practical applications of organizing and managing the front operation of any type of automotive shop, such as:

  • The basics on the flow of work through a shop
  • The basics on setting appointments correctly
  • How to do more than you thought could be done and at half of the stress level
  • Targeting and how this increases production and sales
  • Creating additional sales without doing anything
  • Learning the secret to selling without being aggressive
  • Organizing the shop for production
  • Organizing the front office for increased speed without additional people and less effort
  • Eliminating silly mistakes and comebacks
  • Making sure everything gets done
  • Handling the customer effectively

Part Three

The last part of this three-day workshop is dedicated to creating a personalized plan to go back on to turn your operation into a lean, mean, money making machine. This workshop gets the best results when both the owner and the Service Writer have done it.
