Before the Service Writer School I didn't like selling work. I'd let my feelings get in the way of charging the customer what the job was really worth.
I thought I was helping my customers by only doing the work that they specifically asked for.
After doing the Service Writer School, I realized that by not doing the work the customer really needs and charging correctly for it, I was cheating everyone - my customers, my family, my employees and me.
Before the workshop our average repair order was $100 per car. Since completing the Service Writer School I can't tell you the last time we did a job under $250. And the customers love it.

I have this customer who's been coming to me for a long time. He  came to pick up his car and even though the bill was less than the estimate, he was ready to pick a fight over our labor rates. I was raised to be polite, but I know I would have lost it had it not been for the drills I did at the Service Writer School. Instead of losing a good customer, I was able to handle him so that not only was he completely satisfied with our rates (which had gone up), he was so happy with the way he was treated, he sent us five new customers! You just can't put a price on that kind of benefit.
It's not that life is suddenly perfect - but now we have some tools that we didn't have before to deal with things with more confidence. I am confident in my ability to sell the work and keep my customers happy.
